Reach the base of the summit craters of Mount Etna and experience the volcano from a higher and more spectacular perspective.

This tour allows you to explore high-altitude volcanic landscapes without challenging hiking, making it ideal for those who want a more complete experience of Etna.

The experience takes place on the northern side of the volcano, away from mass tourism, where the environment is more wild and authentic. Instead of the cable car, you will reach higher altitude by 4x4 vehicles, offering a more immersive and less crowded experience.

ITINERARY

The excursion begins on the northern side of Mount Etna, at an altitude of approximately 1800 meters.

From here, you will board 4x4 vehicles and ascend up to around 2900 meters, reaching the area near the volcanological observatory.

Once at high altitude, you will enjoy an easy guided walk of about 40 minutes, with views of the North-East crater and the surrounding volcanic landscape.

During the experience, you will admire breathtaking panoramic views stretching from the lava fields to the sea, including Taormina and the Strait of Messina, while walking through a unique lunar-like environment shaped by lava flows and extinct craters.

Throughout both the off-road ascent and the walk, you will be accompanied by an English-speaking guide who will explain the volcanic phenomena and the characteristics of Mount Etna.

After the walk, there will be a stop for a light Sicilian snack (not included), followed by the visit of a volcanic cave (lava tube), with helmets and headlamps provided on site.

Please note that this tour is not available during winter due to snow and ice conditions.
