Is it your dream to witness the edge of an active crater? This tour might be just what you're seeking.

Accompained by our certified volcanologist guide (multilingual on request) from Mount Etna's northern side, you will get on board of authorized 4x4 buses to an altitude of 2900 meters. Once there, you will hike 400/500 metres up to the central craters of Mt. Etna.

Equipped with helmets, challenge yourselves with an intense hike among fine volcanic sand, unstable and abrasive volcanic rocks and significant slopes that will bring you to marvel at the active crater terraces and the breathtaking landscape that unfolds.

You will be rewarded with the impressive kaleidoscope of volcanic hues, ranging from black to red and the vivid yellow of sulfur crystals from the fumaroles.

The hike includes a descent on foot to the 4x4 vehicles that will bring you back to to the starting point.

DISCLAIMER: With good weather and volcanic conditions, the tour around the summit craters is typically 8 km long and lasts about 3 hours, although the duration ultimately is at the guide's discretion based on the effective conditions.

Please note that this tour is not available in Winter time due to the presence of ice and snow on the paths.
